Itronix Duo-Touch rugged Tablet PC with multi-wireless capabilities |
|
Intronix has introduced a loaded rugged tablet PC with multi-wireless capabilities called the Duo-Touch. It features the Intel Pentium M processor 733 at 1.1 GHz, integrated GPS, 1280MB of DDR SDRAM and 128MB of Video RAM. It also has support for WWAN (EV-DO, EDGE/GPRS, UMTS), WLAN (802.11b/g) Bluetooth, and GPS all in a single unit simultaneously.
The wired connections are 56 Kbps V.92 fax/modem, and 10/100/1000 Mbit Base-T Ethernet LAN.
You would think at the price of US $3,195 the four radio receivers would be included, but I guess the cost of a die-cast magnesium case and hard-drive heater to boot up in -20 degrees Celsius weather doesn’t come cheap.
The system designed specifically for field technicians in extreme northern conditions runs on Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005. The “Duo-Touch” refers to the 8.4-inch Digitizer Control Panel Touchscreen and Passive Touchscreen Standard LCD display, it will run at SVGA resolution.
There are plenty of USB ports, PC Card slots and support for almost any other expandable devices. Operating temperatures range from an impressive -20° to 60° C (-4° to 140° F), the Duo-Touch measures 10.6 x 7.2 x 1.6-inches and weighs 3.9 pounds and ships next month.
