Cingular bids fond farewell to TDMA |

 For those of you still rocking an old analog or TDMA Cingular (or AT&T, I suppose) handset, you have two years to switch up to GSM before your phone stops working.
Cingular is doing away with its legacy non-GSM networks in 2008, the least amount of notice the service provider is allowed to provide according to the United States government.
95% of the company's subscribers are already making use of its GSM networks, but for the 2.5 million customers still using the older ones – like people hanging on the once hugely popular Nokia 8260 – you'll need to drop a little bit of coin on a new handset, because it will soon become nothing but a batch of spare parts.
