At CeBIT 2003, Siemens Information and Communication Mobile (Siemens mobile) unveiled its beautiful and tiny new handset - the SL55. The ultimate in glamorous communication, with its attractive slider design and jewel-like keypad, this mobile phone combines ease of use and elegance. Siemens SL55 offers MMS, a brilliant color display, tri-band functionality, Java technology, and GPRS (class 8) all packed into a compact device that literally fits in the palm of your hand.

Measuring a mere 81.6 by 44.5 millimeters, with a depth of just 22 millimeters and a weight of 79 grams, the SL55 is exceptionally neat and light. By contrast, the large color display, which has a range of 4096 colors, dominates the eye-catching face of the handset. Even with the keypad concealed, all menu items can still be accessed and controlled using the two call keys, soft keys and navikey.

Not just a pretty face, Siemens SL55 is packed full of features. The optional plug-in QuickPic Camera with integrated flash allows moments to be captured and shared with friends over email or MMS. Pictures of 160 x 120 or 640 x 480 pixels can be combined with sounds and text to complete a personal multimedia message. GPRS (class 8) ensures data transfer and downloading WAP content is quick and efficient, and appointments and contact data can even be synchronized between the SL55 and a PC or notebook.

Polyphonic ringtones, logos, and background graphics (wallpaper) can be downloaded at the touch of a button, and Wireless Java technology means an inexhaustible variety of new applications and games can be easily saved, played and exchanged.

Siemens SL55 integrates handsfree talking, voice control and voice dialing and with a lithium-ion battery supplied as standard, it offers 200 hours of standby time and 210 minutes of talk time. A wide range of original Siemens accessories are available, including the QuickPic Camera, fashionable carrying cases, a wide choice of in-car handsfree accessories and data solutions for serial or USB interfaces.

The SL55 will be available across EMEA and APAC from May 2003 in 2 colors, Ruby and Titanium.
