Click to ZoomBrian Lam of Gizmodo guaranteed an iPhone announcement for Monday (today), but the one thing that he conveniently forgot to mention was that the announcement had absolutely nothing to do with Apple. Instead, Linksys shot out a press release early this morning, unveiling their iPhone line of VoIP products. That's right. Linksys (or rather, Cisco Systems, Linksys' parent company) owns the iPhone name, meaning that we will not be seeing an Apple iPhone.

The Linksys family of iPhone VoIP products consists of at least seven items. As per their press release:
- iPhone Cordless Internet Telephony Kit -- CIT200 ($80)
- iPhone Dual-Mode Internet Telephony Kit -- CIT300 ($100)
- iPhone Dual-Mode Cordless Phone for Yahoo! Messenger with Voice -- CIT310 ($100)
- iPhone Dual-Mode Internet Telephony Kit for Skype -- CIT400 ($180)
- iPhone Wireless-G IP Phone -- WIP300 ($220)
- iPhone Wireless-G IP Phone with Web Browser -- WIP330 ($370)
- iPhone Wireless-G Phone for Skype -- WIP320 ($200)

More information about each product can be found on the Linksys website, but needless to say, the bigger story here is that Apple cannot use the iPhone moniker for their yet-to-be-announced cell phone. So, what should be calling it until Stevie-boy makes his way onto the stage at MacWorld? Applephone?

Update 1/9/2007: The Apple iPhone is official, check it out here.
