Sony D-VE7000S portable DVD player supports DivX |

  I've been looking for a decent alternative to the Korean-made PMPs for some time now, partly because I find that the 4-inch screens don't give enough justice to Hollywood blockbusters and other epic flicks. Well, I never thought I'd see the day that Sony shows love for DivX, but it's happening today, because the Japanese electronics giant is set to release the D-VE7000S Walkman, a portable DVD player that supports the popular video codec.
Like most other portable DVD players on the market, the D-VE7000S sports a 7-inch widescreen display (a good size, I must say) and will tackle just about any optical disc you throw at - DVD, DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW, DVD+/-R DL, CD, VCD, CD-R, and CD-RW - with the exception, of course, of the next-gen Blu-ray and HD-DVD technologies. I'm digging the design, as well as the love for Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS.
The Sony player can double as your home unit, but when you're on the road, you can enjoy your flicks through the provided Sony Walkman headphones or share the fun with a charging speaker cradle. No word on pricing or launch date.
