Just because you want the latest technological goodness doesn't mean you need to break the bank doing it. The Via NanoBook is one of the most affordable UMPCs out there, but that also doesn't mean that it's a slouch by any means. Quite the contrary, because the $600 handheld is equipped with a sizable yet compact 7-inch display with 840x480 resolution.
Unlike other UMPCs, it's not designed to be a mini Tablet PC. Instead, the Via NanoBook, as its name implies, is meant to be a small version of a full-sized laptop. This is why it's got that clamshell design and the full QWERTY keyboard. There is also a pair of speakers to go along with the built-in card reader, 802.11g WiFi, Bluetooth, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, either a 30GB or 60GB HDD, Vista Basic, and an ultra low voltage 1.2GHz VIA C7-M processor.
It's no gaming laptop to be sure, but it's heck of a lot more portable. Check out the video tour below.
