Fractus Antenna Smaller Then a Grain of Rice |
|
Our cell phones are getting smaller, but we want more functionality. Samsung is continually working on making LCD screens thinner, so that helps, but what about the rest of the components? Well, Fractus has created "the smallest antenna for the ISM 2.4GHz band." Measuring about the size of a single grain of rice, this miniature antenna supports WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee and any other standard working at the 2.4GHz ISM band.
The Micro Reach Xtend antenna is 3.7mm by 2mm and is designed for use with Bluetooth headsets and mobile handsets. They say that this solution "offers the maximum performance-to-space ratio" as well as help to keep costs down. "The new Micro Reach Xtend antenna will enable manufacturers to incorporate more multimedia into devices," said Fractus Technical Sales & Client Support Manager Albert Algan. "As well as allowing them to wireless-enable a wider range of consumer electronic devices."
