Why buy a VoIP-enabled phone when you don't have to? That's the question that Patton Electronics is asking—and answering.
The Gathersburg, Md., company, known for its routers and ethernet extenders, has unveiled the SmartLink Micro Analog Telephone Adapter, which turns any telephone into an Internet-capable phone. All you need is the pocket-sized device, and your office phone or FAX machine can become a VoIP phone with the flip of a switch.
The M-ATA also has a host of standard telephony features, including call waiting, call forwarding, call blocking, caller ID, and audio conferencing. It provides connectivity across firewalls and transport networks and can work with SIP or MGCP signaling protocols.
Did we mention tiny? This thing really does fit in your pocket. It's 3.6" long by 2.1" wide by .78" high. It weighs .2 pounds.
