iphone-3g-flickr

This “upgrade” seems to result in remarkably sluggish performance, slowing the phone down to a nearly unusable crawl. Getting off the unlock screen can take as long as ten seconds and there are significant delays when opening and replying to text messages.

Special case converts iPod touch into fully-fledged iPhone?

A case called the Apple Peel 520 claims to convert a typical iPod into a fully fledged cellular phone

Up until the launch of the iPhone 4, the aesthetic differences between the iPhone 3GS and the iPod touch have been minimal. The features are largely similar too, except for that whole cellular “phone” part of the equation. Well, you can change all that with a simple new case. At least, that’s what it sounds like with the Apple Peel 520. In effect, you can slap this case onto an iPod touch and it will convert it into a functional Apple iPhone, complete with voice calling and text messaging over a cellular network.

News came today as the US Government announced new exemptions to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). One of the most notable and perhaps useless exemptions is the iPhone Jailbreaking grant. galaxy-s-sweepstakes

This takes some real guts, and it’s one of the more unconventional marketing tactics, but it just might work out in favor of the Korean smartphone maker. It seems that Samsung is reaching out to frustrated iPhone 4 owners on Twitter, offering them a free Galaxy S as a replacement.

Guy makes iPhone into a DSLR, but why

iphonedslr-200

It must be a “mine is bigger than yours” thing, because this iPhone DSLR mount prototype is just way out to left field. Anyone with any photographic sense knows that the quality of glass you shoot with is tres-importante. But adding a lens on top of a lens seems on top of an iPhone is like a sick act of desperation, perhaps some type of shooters withdrawl?

Firefox Home for iPhone is not complete, but a good start

firefox-home-200

I’m pretty content with Mobile Safari, I don’t need a full-fledged browser for my smartphone and I highly doubt Apple will allow something to go above and beyond the current native offering. We’ve seen Fennec (FireFox Mobile) get released for Android, and Windows devices, so naturally Apple iOS should be next.

iPhone 4 camera tests make you look yellow

Yellow

The good news? The new Apple iPhone 4 has an upgraded five-megapixel camera. The bad news? It may actually take worse pictures than the three megapixel camera on the iPhone 3GS. As it turns out, using the iPhone 4 camera under regular indoor lighting can result in some remarkably yellow-looking pictures. This is under the “warm” glow of your typical incandescent bulb.
