HTC HD2 Smartphone Now Running Windows RT?

When the HTC HD2 originally hit the market it was just an ordinary Windows Mobile 6.5 handset, nothing special or worth gawking at. Now, years later? The HD2 has continued to dodge the Grim Reaper by continuing to live on as a hackable device that allows would-be modders to push modern software onto the device.

Nokia’s Lumia 920 Windows 8 Phone Leaked

Earlier today we reported on the leaked HTC 8x, now comes yet another Windows Phone 8 device- this time by Nokia. Windows Phone is far from the leader of the mobile market, but WP8 has recently started to get more and more attention focused on it as of late. When it comes to WP devices, Nokia has certainly emerged as the de facto leader, pushing the WP standard to the highest level possible. The new Nokia Lumia 920 will likely not be any different. We don’t know tons about the upcoming phone yet, but we do have a little information about the hardware involved.

Opera Mini 5 beta out for Windows Mobile 5/6 smartphones, no more java

What the Safari browser is to the iPhone, the Opera browser shall be to Windows Mobile devices. Today Opera Software announced a native version of Opera Mini 5 beta 2 for Windows Mobile 5 and 6-based smartphones. Opera on your Windows Mobile will give you a dramatic increase in browsing speed, tabs, and no more java.

How the browser works is by compressing up to 90 percent of the data traffic coming from websites before they get to your handset, thus delivering you a really fast browsing experience, and ultimately lowering your data fees.

So, we all know that Windows Mobile 6.5 will officially be launching next month and handset manufacturers will be able to produce smartphones that come pre-loaded with the new platform right out of the box. This is supposed to represent a major leap forward from Windows Mobile 6.1, but how many phones will get this […]

Pre-Orders Taken for ITG xpPhone with Windows XP

BlackBerry OS? iPhone OS? Symbian OS? These are all perfectly viable mobile platforms, but they still don’t offer the same kind of utility that you’d be able to extract from a true desktop operating system. That’s why ITG has decided to create a new smartphone that is powered by a full build of Windows XP. […]

HTC Windows Mobile Smartphones Pull WiFi Router Duties Too

Now that tethering is built right into the Apple iPhone software, it seems that other manufacturers want to make the process just as easy on their devices as well. It’s not like they weren’t capable of tethering before; it just wasn’t the simplest of processes. HTC aims to change that. The Taiwanese juggernaut is reportedly […]

Windows Mobile-Powered IcePhone Triple Flips to Greatness

I’ve seen some pretty creative form factors in my day, but the IcePhone truly is something that is out of this world. Whereas the Helio Ocean offered a unique three-layer double-sliding mechanism, the IcePhone can unfold into three distinct pieces. It’s a triple-flip! Powered by Windows Mobile 6.0 Pro, the IcePhone is a pretty niche […]

Video: Unboxing Sony Xperia X1 Windows Mobile Smartphone

Official Announcement of Motorola Q11 Windows Mobile Smartphone

We’ve seen all sorts of spy shots and leaked photos, but now Motorola has finally gone on the record to officially announced the Motorola Q11 smartphone. Naturally following the footsteps of the original MOTO Q and Motorola Q9h that preceded it, the Motorola Q11 doesn’t really bring much in terms of “new” to the picture. […]

Apple iPhone 3G Powered by Windows Mobile (Video)

In a bite of bitter irony, it is now possible for you to run Windows Mobile on your Apple iPhone, much in the same way that you can run Windows on your Apple MacBook. I thought the biggest appeal of the iPhone was the Cupertino-sourced user interface? The Windows Mobile hack, courtesy of developer Erik […]

HP Oak Windows Mobile Smartphone Has Slide-Out QWERTY

Get a load of this. HTC isn’t the only company that knows how to produce Windows Mobile smartphones that happen to have horizontally-sliding QWERTY keyboards. Hewlett Packard’s line of handsets may not be quite as popular as the older iPAQs may have been, but this new HP Oak could certainly attract some attention. Set to […]

Next iPhone Firmware to Offer Windows Mobile Today Screen?

Although there is already a homebrew application that can offer similar functionality to jailbroken handsets, Apple is apparently working on an official update to the iPhone that would create a more Windows Mobile-like experience. One of the things that has been holding me back from picking up an iPhone 3G is that the phone doesn’t […]

Is Asus Making an O2-Branded Windows Mobile Smartphone?

We already know that HTC has a huge habit of making Windows Mobile smartphones that eventually receive different branding altogether, but now it seems that Asus is getting in on that action as well. The fellow Taiwanese manufacturer, largely famous for its Eee PC line of subnotebooks, is reportedly building a WM smartphone for O2. […]

Asus M930 Smartphone Clones LG enV, Runs Windows Mobile

As much as I like the build quality on the smartphones offered by Asus, the one thing that has largely been missing from their portfolio is a full QWERTY keyboard. The M930 addresses this very niche, much to the applause of email junkies and other QWERTY lovers around the world. On display at Computex Taipei […]

Apple iPhone Now Powered by Windows Vista, Perfection

There are tons of Windows Mobile users out there who have decided to skin their handhelds with an iPhone-like theme, but you wouldn’t think that anything would happen in the opposite direction, right? It turns out that there are in fact some Apple fanboys who are interested in the Microsoft end of things, because they […]

Fido Slashes Prices on Windows Mobile Smartphones

I was flipping through my local newspaper today when I saw a full page ad for Fido. Even though the Windows Mobile smartphones from Fido haven’t even been out for that long, the Canadian dog is quickly slashing prices on the devices. The Samsung JACK, for example, can now be snatched up for a mere […]

The unnamed QWERTY-boasting phone is currently slated for a 2009 launch. The […]

MWg Set to Invade Europe with Windows Mobile Smartphones

You may not be all that familiar with the MWg brand and that’s because it didn’t really exist until just recently. Before taking on the MWg name, the company was previously known as O2 Asia. To my knowledge, they were simply rebranding Windows Mobile smartphones that were manufactured by the good people at HTC. After […]

To accompany their foray into the world of Windows Mobile, Fido launched two very similar looking Windows Mobile smartphones. On the one hand, you have the Samsung JACK, which some of you may know better as the BlackJack II. On the other hand, you have the Motorola Q9h. Both of these handsets represent their respective […]

Anti-iPhone Clone Powered by Windows Mobile 6

If the iPhone is known as the Jesus Phone, then I’m a little afraid to ask what you should be calling this iPhone clone. It’s like the complete opposite; they’ve even turned the Apple logo around so that the “bite” is taken out of the left side and not the right. Blasphemy, I say. Blasphemy! […]

zzzPhone Custom Handset Does Not Run Windows Mobile

You might remember us talking about the custom smartphones being produced by zzzPhone earlier this month. At the time, we were told that while the outward appearance would be largely set in stone, prospective customers were able to personalize the feature set to suit their needs. More megapixels for the camera perhaps. Maybe more internal […]

Fido has now jumped into the Windows Mobile smartphone market with the Samsung JACK and the […]

Nokia Smartphones to be Powered by Windows Mobile Soon?

In Microsoft gets their way, we could be looking at a Windows Mobile-powered version of a Nokia N-Series smartphone some time soon.
