Technology has taken a toll in this generation. It has somehow seeped through the system that it is now vital in our everyday. Just like any machine, it needs to fuel itself to sustain. Charging devices seem to to be quite a drag especially if you’re on the go. Luckily, powerbanks and new-age wireless charging has been invented. Disney, famous for their animated films addressed to the young generation, has somehow managed to enter the telecommunications industry. The firm is working on technology similar to Wi-Fi that can power up mobile devices without the need for wires. The researchers of the said project have tested the device in a 5 x 5 meter room, and gained a positive result charging up to 320 devices. The technology, called quasistatic cavity resonance (QSCR), uses magnetic fields to transmit power to mobile devices, and is being developed by scientists at Disney’s research lab in Pittsburgh.
According to lab director and principal research scientist, “This new innovative method will make it possible for electrical power to become as ubiquitous as WiFi. This in turn could enable new applications for robots and other small mobile devices by eliminating the need to replace batteries and wires for charging.” This happens by transmitting sending electrical currents in magnetic walls, ceilings and floors creating magnetic field that forms into power currents thereby creating energy to charge a device. Raising health concerns, this study is harmless to humans exposed or those present in the room. As these magnetic field is transmitted through coils to produce power, energy is converted via mentioned. As this works on mobile devices, the researchers are optimistic that they can size down the recipient device to a toy chest or size up to as large as a warehouse. A lot of innovations can come in the next weeks, months or years and these can come from the most unexpected. Who would have thought Disney would show interest in these kinds of things?

They are widening their scope and this is good news for the techies. If this study gets by with stable figures, imagine a life without wires and hassle. Your needed valuables get charged up walking into the room and will save you from forgetting to load them with power. This efficiency is outstanding. I would love the hands free service this all brings. Amidst all the positive points this device has put in, the major factor to consider would be its price. Disney has not yet disclosed an estimate cost for a single device as it has not come in full swing yet but i bet this is good for a couple of hundred dollars. Purchasing goods that are new in the market can give you thrill and excitement as this puts you above others who doesn’t have it but you have to ask yourself, “do i really need it?” Saving yourself from a few minutes of plugging in your devices can be costly, but really helpful. Once this hits the shelves and comes in a reasonable price, i’ll surely be getting some.
