Maybe you’re not the type of person who wants to wait for their carrier to pick up the phone they want. Maybe you’re not the kind of person who wants to be locked down into a contract. Maybe you really like the latest slate of Sony gear and you just want them to take your money. If you’re these kind of people, I’ve got some great news for you.
Even though Sony Mobile sees the US market as a low priority at the moment, it is now offering fully unlocked versions of the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra, and SmartWatch 2 to the American market through its online store. As a quick refresher, the Xperia Z1 is effectively the flagship folllowup to the Xperia Z and ZL. You get a 5-inch full HD display, 2.2GHz quad core Snapdragon 800 chip, 20.7MP camera, and water-resistant design for $649.99. You can pre-order it now in black, white or purple.
The Xperia Z Ultra is Sony’s take on the phablet market, bumping the display up to a huge 6.44 inches of 1080p full HD goodness. It has the same 2.2GHz quad-core processor as its Z1 stablemate, backed with an 8MP Exmor RS camera, waterproof design, multitasking, stylus support, LTE, and NFC. It’s available in the same black, white or purple as the Z1 and it sells for $679.99.
And finally, the Sony SmartWatch 2 is the challenger to devices like the Galaxy Gear and Pebble. It has a 1.6-inch 220×176 pixel LCD, aluminum body, battery life of up to 7 days, Bluetooth 3.0, NFC, IP57 certification, and support for Android 4.0 and up. It comes pre-installed with apps for calls, texts, email, Facebook, Twitter, music, calendar and slideshow. The SmartWatch 2 retails for $199.99.
