Google’s next Nexus 7 is expected to be unveiled at San Francisco later today, but it seems that the folks over at Best Buy can’t even wait for the event to begin to start offering the tablet. The 16 and 32GB versions of the new tablet are now available for pre-order at Best Buy and they have also added official images of the device.

The 16GB version of the new Nexus 7 is available with a price tag of $229.99 and the 32GB model costs $269.99, as expected. And these are Wi-Fi only models, and there is no sign of an LTE version.

The specs listed over at Best Buy are the following:

  • 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 7.9×4.5×0.3 inches
  • 11.2 ounces
  • 7-inch, 1920×1200 display
  • 16/32GB of storage
  • 1.2MP front-facing camera, 5MP back camera
  • Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS
  • Bluetooth 4.0 support
  • Wifi 802.11 a/b/g/n

With a Snapdragon S4 Pro, the tablet isn’t exactly bleeding edge in the processing department, though the RAM, storage, cameras and display rez are certainly very welcome. Then again, these are Best Buy pre-release specs, there are no guarantees that they are 100% right.

There are no hints regarding when the device will ship, but we will let you know as soon as there’s an announcement. We will also be bringing you the latest news from Google’s San Francisco event, where we should get more details about the new Nexus tablet and be able to take a peek at Android 4.3. So, stay tuned to Mobilemag for updates.

According to Engadget, Best Buy has pulled the pre-order pages of the tablets, though we are still able to see them, so not sure what gives.
