A Laptop for Just $170? Yep, Here it Is

A working laptop for $169.99? Too good to be true? Nope, but there is a catch: You’ll have to be willing to try out Chrome OS instead of a traditional desktop OS like Windows, Linux or Mac OS.

For a limited time, Best Buy is offering a fully refurbished 11.6-inch Samsung GCRF-XE303C12-A01US Chromebook with a Samsung Exynos 5 dual processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and a 2-cell lithium-polymer battery.

It might not be the fastest machine in town, but it more than capable of providing a solid Chrome OS experience at a killer price. But is there room in your life for a Chromebook? That’s a good question, and it all comes down to your needs. If you hope to play major PC games, run special Windows programs like Adobe Photoshop and install Windows-based software then NO, the Chromebook won’t work for you.

If you spend most of your time on the web and are okay with web-based alternatives to programs including Google Docs than yes, this could work for you.

But what about when you can’t get to the web? Remember that there ARE offline capable programs (Google Drive) and basic games (like Angry Birds). And the number of offline supported software is continuing to grow. So the idea of ALWAYS needing to be online to use a Chromebook is a myth.

Anyhow, head on over to Best Buy if you are interested in trying out your first Chromebook at a hell of a great price.

  1. I think you mean Google Drive, not Google Docs, right?
