4G is still not available in all the places around the world. But many have already started making big plans for the next generation technology, 5G. According to Huawei, which has over 25 years of experience in building and selling network infrastructure, 5G networks will be available around the world by the year 2020.
Huawei says, “Over the next decade we will witness a 1,000-times increase in the demand for wireless capacity; a range of exciting new business opportunities to connect billions of things wirelessly will emerge and radio access capability will ultimately allow every person to access the wireless network at a speed of 10Gbit per second, 100 times faster than the fastest mobile device on the market today“.
Huawei is currently researching ways to make 5G a reality and are also participating in collaborations such as the METIS project, which brings together more than 140 researchers from the industry, carriers and universities to share ideas for developing 5G wireless.
And Huawei isn’t the only company that’s interested in 5G. Among others who are currently testing 5G, Samsung publicly stated that they plan to make 5G network technology available by the year 2020. They have reportedly reached speeds of 1Gbps during testing, and speeds of 10Gbps are expected after advancements in the tech.
