Samsung does not need to beat Apple, as they are two separate companies producing products that run different Operating Systems. I'm not sure why people keep comparing "Apples to Samsungs."

If Samsung decided to run iOS (God Forbid), then I would see a point in comparing the two companies.

Google should be more worried about Samsung than Apple, because as Samsung becomes bigger than life, and Android becomes heavily relied on Samsung to produce sales, Samsung just might start asking Google for a higher return on Applications sold on the Play Store.
I think they are currently receiving 10%. I could be wrong on the numbers, don't quote me on it.

With Apple's duel with Samsung on and off the court, I think it would make much sense for Apple to ask Intel to make the chips for their smartphones too. But then again, since Apple already knows a thing or two about making smartphone/tablet processors, their interest would be in making Intel do the clerical work rather than the chip design in itself. Still, if Apple does strike up a good partnership, Samsung would have to think of other ways to beat Apple.
