With my experience with both phones, ASUS tablets, and computers I would strongly recommend you to keep the desktop. My advice would be to get a Padfone to replace both your phone and Laptop. You can do some word processing, internet browsing, music playing and even file sharing and downloading on the tablet. However there are still some major use to having a full computer to do your work.

So far, my tablet has 100% replaced everything my laptop could do, except for writing long papers and playing my video games. However, I would seriously doubt it could do half as much computing as I do with my desktop.

I'm thinking about getting a padfone 2 or note 2 (plus a nas) and get rid of my laptop and desktop. I had the Atrix and its lapdock (until I lost it) and I liked it...
