Yes…just download to kindle app on the google play store, then sign in with the amazon account with the books…..its that easy.

For sure the Nexus 7 is better, but the Kindle’s design looks cooler. But I choose Kindle 8.9” over Nexus 7

I am having a real problem trying to decide which would be a better buy… the Kindle fire HD 7″ or the Nexus 7 Is there anything about either that might help me decide?

This is the wrong comparison. You should’ve compared the nexus 7 vs the kindle fire HD 7″, which is the same size and the same price as the nexus 7.

I personally don’t recommend using Google Books. If you download the Kindle App, it’s just like having an actual Kindle. So to answer your question, yes.
