I bought an iPad 3rd. gen in August, and truely love it. Since this semester at college we are doing mobile web development I've been wanting to get an Android device as a test bed, my wife got me the Nexus 7 for a 20th. Anniversary gift, and it has become my carry everywhere device. It's the perfect size and weight to bring with me, and I'm not carrying $700 worth of tablet worrying about it all the time. The build quality is superb it's fast, and when I regestered it, Google gave me $25 in store credit to get started, along with some songs, magazines and a movie as bonuses. OK, so the movie was Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, but it still counts as a movie. Apple gave me a box as a bonus with my iPad. I still like my iPad, but it's my home device, it's like my desktop tablet, and the Nexus 7 is my laptop.

Just to let you know, it's not Gorilla glass. A quick search around the web will confirm that Asus has stated it's regular not Corning scratch-resistant glass. And this is a major minus vis a vis tablets with Gorilla glass. Cheers.

I've been using android for years, and avoided Apple mainly due to price and iTunes. I upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus phone last January and it has been a really frustrating experience. Nothing seems to work right everything seems glitchy including standard features like the contacts and telephone features.

I really wanted to love this phone, but now I have regrets. Likewise, I wanted to buy the nexus7, but is it going to present the same problems?

Your last sentence is hopeless: ipad is too big, too expensive. Anyway, I don't want to be seen to be a "creative person". I just get on and do things.....

I bought one, had and used it for a week. The screen became unresponsive, the screen would flash and the recommended fix was hit the stand-by button. I called Google, who refers you to Asus to clear up the issue. They do not have any real suggestions or ideas on why these issues were happening, let alone if they were hardware or software issues. Take a look at some of the nightmare stories on these tablets before buying. I'm sure some people have gotten this tab, which would be awesome, with no problems and will disagree, but there is no substitution for walking into apple.

so this mutant drops the tablet on his driveway, the glass cracks (shocker) and he blames it on the tablet??? Some people are too dumb to be using technology. Another "victim" of the system. Try dropping your next tablet I'm sure it will be much different.
