Hi, the ModBook is for professionals who want a Wacom device in their tablet. No present day computers have it. The old tc1100's, Fujitsu's, I think some dells, and a few others 5 to 10 years ago were the only ones.
So this gives you the pressure sensitivity and alignment of a Cintiq, without being stuck at a desk. It gives you full OSX capability and the real Adobe lineup without the capacitive touch screen. So you don't have to worry about your hand making marks, or moving the page around as you draw (see the SURFACE demo, his hand jumps the page and makes unwanted marks)
This is such a niche market, but god I love it. I feel it's the perfect computer, add a wireless Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and what more would you want?
It's price is normally $1000 plus you buy the computer, so this is for the elite.
I've never owned one, but used a cintiq and every other tablet around, and this could be the closet thing to a digital sketchbook around.
P.S. To anyone who thinks "pencil and paper is soo much cheaper" so is a typewriter for communicating, but how many people buy a computer only to write a letter or a school paper or send mail. This is a whole new league, a computer used for a specific purpose by specific people (professional artists). So this won't be understood by the public, that's why it's not well known. But to those who do...we know.
The only thing I can think it would compare to...actually nothing, think about it, where else in tech has there been something that can be modified by an aftermarket company to become a new product for a specific market?
Hope this information helps, sorry if I rambled.

It seems interesting as a "switch" device, IMO. You could hook it to a TV very easily for streaming movies/playing games/etc, and then stick it in a pack to have a lot of power on the go. Hoping Modbook will continue to offer conversions like Axiotron did-Axiotron would take your MacBook and basically rebuild it into a tablet for considerably less money than buying one new from them; it was spitting distance in terms of cost (about 900 bucks, iirc) from the 64gig/3G iPad at the time. Hopefully the new company will be clever and stuff an LTE antenna in there; I'd also want a magic trackpad and keyboard for control purposes.
