I have been saying for a long time that iPhone 5 makes no sense when the 4S IS the 5TH generation of iPhone. If it had a number, I'm pretty sure it would be 6. But I'm going to go with "new" iPhone since it shouldn't confuse people. I mean, if it looks different than the 4S and 4, it won't be very hard to tell it is the newest version.

WILL have a model name. How do I know? It's the only product line they have that CONTINUES to sell several generations. There is only the current or "new" of everything except the iPhone. The iPhone having three generations on the market allows Apple to have A) Free/Low cost - ala 3GS, B) Medium cost - ala 4, and C) High-price - ala 4S. They continue to sell three generations of only ONE of their products and NEED a way to differentiate models or it would get REALLY confusing to consumers.

Personally, I don't know why people are still dragging around the name 'iPhone 5'. I'm pretty sure it will be called the iPhone 6 because it's the sixth iPhone. It's not like they 'skipped' a generation with the iPhone 4S. It had pretty much everything people were looking for in the iPhone 5 last year. They didn't go around calling the iPhone 4 the iPhone 3 after the iPhone 3GS (an update to the iPhone 3G) because the previous generation wasn't a major upgrade.

The next iPhone WILL have a model name. How do I know? It's the only product line they have that CONTINUES to sell several generations.
