With iOS 5.1 now out the door, it was only a matter of time before jailbreakers cracked the newest update to Apple’s mobile OS. Now, just a day later, iPhone Dev Team announced that their Redsn0w jailbreaking tool has been updated to support iOS 5, of course this version isn’t without a few flaws that are worth taking notice.

First off, this isn’t for iPhone 4S, iPad 2, or the new A5X iPad. The A5 (and A5X) chip is much harder to break, and at the moment Redsn0w doesn’t support this processor class. Another potential deal-breaker for some, is that this is a tethered jailbreak. In laymens terms, if you reboot your device it will need to first connect to a computer in order to re-enter into a jailbroken state.

Check out the new update at the iPhone Dev Team’s blog. As with all jailbreaks and hacks, remember you are downloading this at your own risk.
