ViewSonic’s $200 ViewPad Rolls Out

Being made available for pre-order on Amazon last month, ViewSonic’s ViewPad 7e is expected to ship at the end of October and will be pegged at around $200.

This android tablet features Android 2.3 Gingerbread, unfortunately not Honeycomb. It also measures just 7” and has a 1GHz ARM A8 processor which is perfect for web browsing and flash video. The price is very fair considering its specs; dual cameras, 4GB storage with microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, HDMI output and a “RiteTouch” 7 inch capacitive display. Considered to be an affordable low-end tablet, the ViewPad 7e does not have official support for the Android Market; but you can still access the Amazon’s Appstore and other pre-loaded apps such as TuneIn Radio, WildTangent games, Twitter and Kindle.

The company also improved the Gingerbread experience by adding ViewScene 3D interface to the tablet, making it able to deliver a home screen layout complete with holographic visual effects. This might be interpreted as an attempt to please users who wanted Honeycomb.

The tablet will be available in Latin America in November.
