Price Error: HTC Flyer Android tablet is not $99 from Best Buy

Do you remember that HP TouchPad fire sale that happened a short while ago? The webOS tablet got slashed down to $99 across the board and people were scrambling to get their hands on one. Now, Best Buy went and dropped the price of the HTC Flyer Android tablet, and then renegged on it saying it’s a “pricing error.”  Did they do it as a publicity stunt? Who knows, either way Tech Crunch reported on it, got a bunch of people excited and then pissed off. It was showing up as a mere $99 on the Best Buy website.

Best Buy eventually put up signs saying this price drop was an error and they won’t honor the reduced price. They’ll gladly sell you a Flyer at the full $299 price, of course, but that’s not at all the smoking $99 deal that we all want. Even so, maybe you’ll be lucky enough to find someone at your local Best Buy that will honor it… or perhaps a lawyer.

Whats worse is BestBuy is “recalling” (back to their warehouses) already shipped out orders to its online customers . Price mistake or not ,  what kind of a wacked-out company does this sort of thing to its customers . Very bad pr for an already hated store .
BestBuy should have manned up and sucked up the loss on the orders already done/shipped (as they are large enough to handle the loss anyway) . With pr like this , BestBuy deserves to have a bad holiday season on sales. Just another reason I do NOT shop there .
