Chalk another one up to Japanese ingenuity. If you find yourself in the blistering heat and there’s nary a fan in sight, you may be comforted to know that it’s possible to carry around an air conditioner with you… in your shirt. That’s right. This is a real-deal air-conditioned work shirt.
On the surface, it might look like the everyday garb of any old salaryman, but hidden inside are dual fans that provide you with a constant stream of cool air. The fans blow from 12L/s to 20L/s, depending on whether you choose the strong or weak setting. It is a polyester shirt, though, so I imagine it doesn’t “breathe” all that well. Maybe that’s the point: to keep the cool air in and the hot air out.
Unfortunately, the price for the Kuchofuku air conditioned shirt is not cool at all. It comes in at an astounding US$186, plus another $37 for worldwide express shipping. That’s not cheap at all, but I guess that’s the price you pay if you want to beat the heat. Or, you know, you could just stay indoors in a place that has air conditioning… like the office.
