I just purchased a Kindle 3G with ads for $139 at Staples, and I am extremely impressed. The key to getting the most from it is in understanding what the Kindle 3G is and, more importantly, what it is not: It is not an iPad or Xoom-class device. It is not a video-watching, multi-media-playing device (though it does play MP3s.) It is not a game playing platform (though there are some basic games.) It is not color. It is not a heavy-duty Web browser. It does not have a touch screen. Those who pick one up expecting an iPad or a Xoom will be sorely disappointed.

But these shortcomings are completely offset by the fact that as an e-content reader and an e-content delivery platform, it is hard to beat, especially for the price. And the free 3G really seals the deal! The ad-supported version saved me $50, so I can justify the cost of a decent cover, and the ads (so far) are not intrusive, and they never display while reading. Stop waffling and just go buy one.

Also, none of the ad-supported kindles have "interruptions" as the ads are on the home page on a bottom banner and the screen saver, not during your readings...

I'm sorry, but you don't really know what you're talking about. The ad-supported kindle 3G is $139, no $90, and NONE of the kindles (with or without ads) has fees.
