It has to do with two things: a) marketing and b) apps. Apple has done a fantastic job of marketing itself, just as it did with the iPod. If you had any other MP3 player, many people would ask, "What kind of iPod is that?" It's the same with Kleenex and Q-Tips. The second half is the apps. iOS has *way* more apps than any other platform and this lends itself to greater adoption, creating a self-perpetuating cycle. webOS is a great OS, but there just aren't enough apps to compete.
