Sprint's CDMA network supports simultaneous voice+data so doing one or the other is not a feature of CDMA but rather a decision that Verizon made when rolling out their network.

It's important to note the simultaneous voice and data issue is resolved on Verizon's 4G LTE network. Unfortunately, this means it will only be resolved with 4G compatible devices, and iPhone for VZW users will have to wait until a 4G version of that phone becomes available.

Simultaneous voice/data is the one remaining advantage AT&T has over Verizon Wireless. Yes, AT&T users can talk and surf the web at the same time ... right up until the point their call gets dropped.
