Google unleashes next-gen Android Market

Up until now, the only real way you could access Android Market was through your smartphone, but that’s changing. Google has just revamped its Android Market website and it pretty much lets you do everything you’d do on your phone, only through your PC instead.

This isn’t exactly novel. You can shop through iTunes for your iPhone, for example, just as you can shop through the Ovi Store for your Nokia smartphone. It’s good to see that Google has finally caught up in this regard.

Now, when you go to the Android Market website, you can browse through the different apps in a “bigger, brighter interface,” sending the apps to your smartphone (or tablet) directly from the site. This is not unlike the Ovi system. You can also log into your account and view your download history.

Better late than never!
