Inflatable snowshoes for those unexpected walks through deep powder

Snowshoes have followed more or less the same design for years: Little more than tennis rackets strapped to boots. That may be about to change with the release of the “Small Foot.”

Sold in two tiny, pocket-sized bags, Bulgarian gear company Any Exit has brought beach ball technology to winter sports with the inflatable snow shoe. Each bag is little more than the size of a lb-stick of butter, holding one snowshoe and the included pump.

Though they don’t appear to be big enough to make much of a difference when walking through fluffy powder, they would definitely be easier to carry around than oldschool types.

As with any first-of-a-kind, there’ll be trade-offs between convenience and functionality until the groundbreaker is updated a few times. But for snowshoe enthusiasts, expect to see great things coming to snowshoes everywhere thanks to Any Exit’s innovations.

There’s no word on pricing or availability yet.
