as for the car industry going green, or greener,is going to be a long process. we the consumer are still wanting and waiting for the next best vehicle. i do not believe the industry will change, that is realistic to the current wants from the consumer. armed with well educated marketing firms,we will almost certainly not see a true green solution for city and highway mobility for some time. we are born into the fossell fuel age and can not seem to grow out of it. our whole society was born into a world where we can do or make anything from the earths resources. we think we are making our living standards the best it can be,while our media machine re-enforces this. this media re-enforcing seems to be all we need to carry on,business as usual, and guilt free.

Halt production of the G class?

Come on now ... I'm sick of nice real trucks like the Hummer H2 being discontinued. I mean really how many people actually have a G class? It is already a limited production vehicle. Canceling production of the G class would do absolutely nothing even for the biggest greenest hippy.

Do you realize how much fuel (jet fuel) the US Gov uses just to fly test runs of fighter jets out of Virginia everyday? Go on vacation to Virginia beach and you will see what I am talking about. I bet just one of these flights equals the total life consumption of all G classes produced in a given year.

Mercedes don't listen to comments like this. Keep producing the awesome G class. I would love a G55 AMG if I wasn't stuck in law school at the moment and I hope a 2012 model year will exist when I graduate.

I also hope Mercedes puts there AMG engines in Infinitis new lineup. Mercedes and Infiniti have very promising new cars coming out in the next few years. Including hybrids, EV's and gas guzzling AMG awesomeness.
