Just because you want to read your e-books on the road does not mean that you necessarily have to buy an Amazon Kindle. The Kindle app is available on a number of smartphone platforms, and Windows Phone 7 will soon be joining that list. You didn’t think the MS crew was going to get left out, did you?
The launch of Windows Phone 7 is just around the corner and I suspect that the Kindle app should be available for download in time for the holidays. This would be in the best interest of Amazon, after all, since Christmas has to be one of the biggest shopping seasons of the year for them.
This follows the already available Kindle apps for PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry and Android. Should you expect anything different from the WP7 version? They’re saying that it’s “optimized for the unique user interface” and it’ll take advantage of that WhisperNet technology for persistent bookmarking.
I don’t know if I’m the type to read e-books on the smaller screen of a smartphone, but it’s good to see that it’s an option in case you don’t want to buy yet another piece of hardware.
