T-Mobile Vibrant (Samsung Galaxy S) coming this week

Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S) heads to T-Mobile this week

Looking for a hot new Android phone to go with your T-Mobile service? It has now been confirmed that T-Mo will indeed be launching its new Samsung Vibrant smartphone this Thursday. You might already know it as the Samsung Galaxy S; this is just their variant on the hardware.

This beats AT&T to the punch by a few days, since the Captivate (AT&T’s take on the Galaxy S) won’t be hitting store shelves for a little while after that. It’s also bodes well for T-Mobile that there are shortages of the HTC EVO 4G (Sprint) and the HTC Droid Incredible (Verizon). I hope for T-Mobile’s sake that they have a good supply of these phones ready to go.

Going through the spec sheet for the Samsung Vibrant, we discover a huge four-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, a nice thin profile, a 1GHz Hummingbird processor with GPU, 3G connectivity, GPS, Wi-Fi, microSD expansion, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Most of the features are pretty much par for the course aside from that Super AMOLED screen. According to some early hands-on reports, the colors are remarkably rich and vibrant (no pun intended) on the new Samsung thanks to this technology. It should help with battery life too.

I am a current Omnia (910) user on Verizon who was quite disappointed with Windows Mobile 6.1 and Samsung’s shell. Wound up paying for SPB Mobile Shell to acquire a usable interface and had to abandon Exchange e mail as a result of security restrictions. Basically anytime you tried to spot or receive a call, you needed to enter your PIN and I was missing calls like a outcome. As a final point made the decision to abandon smartphones to the time getting (economic factors) and wait for a superb Android system. The Galaxy S (Facinate) should fit the bill. Disappointed to hear with the GPS difficulties. Let me add that Verizon’s 3G assistance was superb through and I ultimately stopped utilizing WiFi since V3G was a lot quickly adequate for me.Interestingly, I’m employing the Omnia as being a wireless system all around the house for checking electronic mail, Twitter, Facebook and simple browsing. But not being a mobile phone!
