Apple back-to-school promo starts early, free iPod touch with Mac

Apple Back to School promo starts early

It may be hard to believe, but Apple has already started its back-to-school marketing campaign; one of the biggest promotions for this campaign is the free iPod touch with the purchase of just about any Mac computer.  This is far from a unique promotion, since the Cupertino-based company has been offering the free iPod around the back-to-school time for several years, but this is kind of early, don’t you think? High school students might still be in school and the college kids only got off about a month ago.

Even so, if you plan on heading back to hit the books this September, it’s a good idea to take advantage of this offer. Buy a new Mac (with Apple education pricing too) and they’ll gladly equip you with a free 8GB iPod touch. This promo includes the MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac. I don’t think it includes the Mac Mini, but I could be wrong.

This promotion starts today and lasts until September 7, but I suggest you try and hold off for a couple of months. If rumors are to be believed, a new iPod touch is just around the corner and it’ll have a camera. Then again, it may not be included as part of the promo.

I looked at the fine print on Apple’s website and it says that the free ipod touch they give you will only be a 2nd generation one, not even a 3rd generation one. It would be awesome if they changed it to a 4th generation when it comes out but i personally doubt it.
