Nokia 5230 headed to Wind Mobile

Wind Mobile has already had quite the impact on the Canadian cellular industry, enticing customers away from carriers that have long since dominated the maple-flavored climate. Even though Wind has only been around for a short while, it’s already expanding its lineup.

In addition to other smartphones like the HTC Maple and BlackBerry Bold 9700, Wind Mobile will soon be carrying the Nokia 5230 as well. This is the first Nokia device for Wind, possibly ushering in several more Finnish phones in the future. It also happens to be only the second touchscreen phone for Wind.

The Nokia 5230 gets a large 3.2-inch touchscreen display, featuring a healthy resolution of 640 x 360 pixels. It looks a lot like the 5800 XpressMusic in many ways, I’d say. Other features include microSD expansion, 3.5mm headset jack, 2MP camera, HTML browser, and Bluetooth. There’s no hardware keyboard here, so you’ll be getting your QWERTY fix through the virtual keyboard instead.

Pricing was not announced by Wind, but they do say that the Nokia 5230 will be coming to Wind “in the next few weeks.” In the same announcement, Wind says that it won’t be carrying the Nokia N900, but they’re more than happy to let you bring it to them.
