Fiat 500EV all-electric vehicle bound for the United States

There’s this whole Fiat-Chrysler relationship that presented an opportunity to bring Fiat vehicles to the roads of America, well, as it turns out one of those first vehicles won’t need a droplet of Texas Tea to make its way around the boardwalk. That’s because the Fiat 500EV is an electric car.
It’s not like the Fiat 500 is a brand new car, per se, since the platform has spawned more than its fair share of micro vehicles over the years, but this is an electric powertrain that speaks to the future of Chrysler. Quite different from the Chevy Volt though! From what we hear, the Chrysler plant in Auburn Hills, Michigan will be responsible for producing the Fiat 500EV. Power comes by way of a lithium-ion battery, an electric powertrain, and an EV control unit for power flow management. Since it’s all electric, there are zero direct emissions too.
You can expect to have about a 20 mile range on electricity alone, so don’t expect to go on that epic road trip behind the wheel of this thing. If the electric Nissan Leaf is any indication, the Fiat 500EV will likely launch in the $30k range.
