Pioneer has just revealed a new professoinal DJ mixer, the DJM-2000. This is the first audio mixer to integrate a multi-touch panel, and Pioneer has done it with a 5.8-inch display.
The unit is small enough to bring with you on the road, but slightly larger than its predecessors. Its designed to match up with Pioneer’s CDJ-2000 digital media players allowing you to mix tracks with anything from CDs to USB drives. With four mixing channels and four USB inputs directly on the mixer, you can manipulate your audio sources with the multi-touch panel’s effects: frequency mix, allowing you to mix within seven frequency ranges. Sidechain remix lets DJs create seven different dynamic audio effects with touches and movements on the screen, and MIDI mode, where you can assign various controls displayed on the LCD screen to control DJ software via MIDI.
A USB interface allows for a direct computer connection bypassing a soundcard, this can be used as a master output to a recording computer or to four other audio sources. The feature list is vast, and the price isn’t cheap. At $3,000 MSRP you can grab a Pioneer DJM-2000 beginning this June from authorized dealers.
