Soda power your mobile phone

I just don’t know what to think of this one, takes me back, way back, back to the future.  Designer Daizi Zheng’ has created a new Nokia phone for their latest ‘alternative power source, green phone concept’.

Replacing a regular lithium ion battery is a bio battery.  Bio batteries are ecologically friendly energy generators that produce electricity from carbohydrates, i.e. sugar.  The phone requires 1 pack of sugary drink mix that generates water and oxygen until the battery dies out.  Just add the soda then for three to four times longer you can chat away.

Sounds good in theory – I guess, but it also sounds messy and sticky; and what’s going to happen to the phone (and my info) if the corrosive pop leaks, onto or into it. Imagine waking up with 100 ants feasting on your mobile?
