Asus Eee PC 1008P with Pine Trail Atom CPU

As if there weren’t enough variations within the Asus Eee PC line of netbooks already, here’s another one for your buying consideration. If you can get past the loud pink paintjob, you’ll discover that this could be the most powerful Eee PC to date, thanks to the next-generation Pine Trail Intel Atom processor.

The Pine Trail Atom N450 processor, which can go up to 1.8GHz with SHE, is at the heart of this machine. The other specs will sound very familiar to those who have been looking at other netbooks from Asus. There’s a 10.1-inch display (1024×600), 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a 1.3MP webcam. Instead of XP, you get loaded with Windows 7 Starter.

Aside from the color, you may think that the Eee PC 1008P is much like the Seashell netbook from Asus, but this one comes with more extras. In addition to Pine Trail, the Eee PC 1008P-KR (for designer Karim Rashid) features a removable battery that slides out the back. You’ll also notice the inclusion of a chiclet keyboard, not unlike the 1000HE.

I didn’t find anything regarding price, but we are hearing that the special designer’s edition Asus Eee PC 1008P-KR will be available in Hot Pink (as pictured) and Gold Brown when it launches in February 2010. A Graphite Black 1005HR-KR is expected soon too.
