Fido Launches Nokia 2720 Flip Phone for FreeSome people don’t need all the fancy bells and whistles of an Apple iPhone. They have no interest in the security of a BlackBerry or the open source nature of Android. They just want a simple phone that works. For those people, Fido just may have the ticket with the Nokia 2720. Perhaps the most appealing factor is its price.

Assuming that you are willing to sign a two-year contract with Canada’s dog, you can land the Nokia 2720 for zero dollars and zero cents. Yup, it’s another one of those “free with contract” handsets, but you do get a reasonable set of features.

The rather basic-looking clamshell has an external display and an integrated handsfree speaker, so I think you can use it with the phone closed too. Other highlights include the 1.3 megapixel camera, FM radio, Bluetooth, and a large keypad.

The Fido website is currently showing that the Nokia 2720 is currently “not in stock,” so you may need to hit up the customer service line or your local kiosk to get it. Opt out of a contract and you can have the phone for $70 outright.

The 2720 is listed as 'not in stock' due to a software problem with the phone which currently causes an error when the ringtone is changed. I believe Fido has stopped selling the phone until they figure out the problem.

I just got through a half dozen documentaries and videos that I’ve been meaning to get to for months now. How I did it? The Just Mobile UpStand and a bit of help from CineXplayer. Now that my iPad conveniently sits next to my monitor in seemingly perfect viewable angle, I can let those videos play as I work during the day.

The iPad has established itself as one of the coolest gadgets of the year, and is a must have if you love Apple. Its large display, crystal clear screen, and a multitude of features make it one of the most impressive tablets on the market. Check out Mobile Magazine’s iPad review here. However, like all iDevices, they do leave something to be desired in the area of durability.
