In the first TV spot, embedded below, we start out with a very Apple-esque plain white background filled with Apple-like short sentences. However, these sentences are pointing out many of the shortcomings of the iPhone. It tells us that it does not have a real keyboard, doesn’t do simultaneous apps, doesn’t take five-megapixel pictures, and more.

Any commercial alerting the public to the availability of competition for the iPhone is good! The disabling problem with the iPhone is that it is an AT&T exclusive (typical Apple monopoly thinking). Areas which are not served adequately (or at all) by AT&T are far larger and more numerous than for VZW. Therefore, any increased capability phone that runs on VZW (will also run on Sprint and many regional CDMA carriers) is a plus for people who need those capabilities.

I see so many comments on so many cell phone related sites that make it clear that too many people are totally unaware that there are huge areas of the US that are only served by one or, at most, two carriers. Wake up citified America, there is a whole country out there!
