The sun is shining. The mercury is rising. Yup, summer is here and it’s time to crawl out of the warm glow of our LCD monitors to take in some that fresh air. Just because you’re heading outside to bask in the sunlight does not mean that you have to leave your technological obsession behind. Oh no. There are definitely gadgets to accompany your journey into the great outdoors. Let’s have a look at five of them.
EZ Grill Disposable Grill
For many people, summer means it’s time to get together with some friends for some wonderful backyard barbecue action. You want those juicy hamburgers, those scrumptious hot dogs, and those delicious steaks. However, you probably don’t want to deal with all the mess that typically accompanies a barbecue. It can also be expensive to get all the right equipment.
Rather than go through all of that hassle, you might want to consider the EZ Grill. This is an all-in-one barbecue grill that is completely disposable and recyclable. Everything from the grating to the used charcoal can be completely recycled. All you need is the EZ Grill and a single match!
The regular size (1.81 lbs) is $4.99 each, whereas the party size (3.31 lbs) is $9.99 each. For more information, check out ezgrill.com.
iBoo iPod Speaker Dock
Do you know what would go really well with that backyard barbecue? Aside from some good bug spray and plenty of meat to go on the grill, you may want to fill the air with some tunes. It’s unlikely that you’ll want to haul your expensive home theatre setup into the backyard just for some music, so that’s where a smaller music dock comes into play.
The iBoo iPod speaker dock from Speakal is just the ticket. It’s remarkably cute, of course, but it’s also important that despite its relatively small nature, the iBoo puts out some pretty decent sound. Just plunk the iPod into its head and the music comes bumping out of its pair of 3W stereo speakers and single 9W subwoofer.
If you had the chance to check out my iBoo review a few months ago, you’ll know that it also comes with a cool flashing blue light. This can provide for a pretty cool effect in the evening.
Check out the Speakal iBoo for about $90.
Flip MinoHD and Flip UltraHD Pocket Camcorders
It’s all about capturing those precious memories on the fly. While you could try to record some videos using your point-and-shoot digital camera, they typically take some time for you to turn them on and switch to video mode. Sometimes, simplicity prevails. During those times, you may want to consider the Flip Video Camcorders from Flip Video.
The newest addition to the family is the Flip UltraHD . It takes on the same form factor as the original Flip Ultra, except it can now record at an impressive 720p. That’s where the “HD” part of its name comes from. The 8GB of on-board memory are enough for up to 120 minutes of HD video.

The Margarator Slushee Machine
The last thing that you want to see happen at a summer beach party is that you run out of drinks. That’s not good. You also want to take advantage of the summer season with summer-appropriate beverages.
Ay carumba! It’s time for a margarita! Check out the Margarator, a dedicated margarita blender that’ll be a perfect fit for your backyard, the beach, or even when you go camping in the middle of the woods. Naturally, it’ll do daiquiris and other blended drinks as well, in addition to your favorite lime or strawberry margarita.
For most blenders, you’re stuck with being tethered to the wall. The Margarator can do the usual AC wall adapter thing, but it’ll also accept power via a 12V DC. That’s the cigarette jack in your car, but you can also find a variety of portable power packs that do that too.
Check out the Margarator in the After 5 Catalog. It’s listed at $84.99.
Suzuki Hayabusa Motorcycle
No one said that all these gadgets would fall under a certain price range. Maybe you should be glad I’m not recommended a Lamborghini Murcielago Spyder instead, though that hot convertible would be great for cruising around in this weather too. Or for ripping through glorious mountain passes.
That said, nothing is quite like the summer than riding through the sunshine in a high-powered bike and they don’t get any faster than the legendary Hayabusa from Suzuki. Also known as the GSX1300R in some markets, the Suzuki Hayabusa is the fastest production motorcycle in the world.
The current version comes with a 1340 cc engine good for 194 horsepower. That’s a lot of ponies for a bike, wouldn’t you say? It’ll do the quarter mile in 9.34 seconds, has a 0-60mph time of 2.49 seconds, and tops out at 188mph (electronically restricted). It also happens to cost about $12,000.
