This certainly isn’t the first netbook to be targeted at school-aged children, since we’ve long since grown familiar with devices like the Intel Classmate PC. However, this new laptop/netbook comes with an interesting twist. The PeeWee Pivot happens to be a convertible tablet PC for kids.

The 8.9-inch display features a 1024×600 pixel resolution and, as the name of the netbook leads you to believe, the display is on a pivot. It can rotate and twist, just like the more expensive convertible tablet PCs on the market. Naturally, that display also happens to be a touchscreen, in case the kids want to doodle or something.

The PeeWee Pivot Tablet Laptop weighs in at three pounds, is resistant to drops and spills, and features the standard 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor. Other specs include an integrated accelerometer, 1GB of RAM, 60GB hard drive, six-cell battery, 1.3-megapixel webcam, and three-year warranty. The preinstalled Windows XP Home also comes with a special Walt Disney theme. Mickey Mouse would be proud.

The PeeWee Pivot Tablet Laptop is listed at $600, making it cheaper than many other convertible tablets. It’s being targeted at the 3-10 age group.
