While some of us may still be suffering through an extended winter season, summer really is right around the corner and we’ll be hiking, hitting the beach, and enjoying the great outdoors in no time. If you want your summer to be filled with music, you’ll want to accessorize too.

There are a number of Bluetooth speakers out there that are well suited for sharing your tunes, but they may not be as well suited for the elements. The new Sony Ericsson MS500, on the other hand, is supposed to be well suited to be taken anywhere and everywhere.

Marketed as the company’s “first outdoor Bluetooth speaker,” the Sony Ericsson MS500 isn’t all that much bigger than a fat hockey puck, weighing a mere 155 grams with batteries. As you head up that mountain, you have your choice of Disturbed or Def Leppard blaring from your carabiner-connected hip.

Power comes by way of two AA batteries and they’ll stream out the music for about five hours. You get Bluetooth 2.1+EDR with support for A2DP and AVRCP profiles. The MS500 will launch in your choice of orange and black (as shown) or white and pink. No word on price.
