Are you running out of space on your new unibody MacBook or MacBook Pro? Do you find that the optical drive doesn’t get that much play anyway? It seems that there is a very useful and relatively simple solution to this little conundrum.

OptiBay has created a set of specialized hard drives that are designed to work with Apple’s unibody notebooks. Instead of swapping out the existing drive for something bigger, you can simply add a second hard drive, replacing the space currently occupied by your SuperDrive.

The easier application would be to run this second hard drive as a separate drive, but the OptiBay solution will also work in a RAID configuration with the main hard drive as well. The SATA upgrade is available in three capacities, depending on your needs and your budget: 250GB, 320GB, and 500GB.

Check out the OptiBay hard drives for Apple unibody MacBooks and MacBook Pros at MCETech. Prices start at $189.
