PocketGear Launches App Store for Windows Mobile

As smartphones continue to gain in popularity among the masses, so will the popularity of third-party applications. Following in this philosophy is the launch of the App Store for Windows Mobile, powered by the good people at PocketGear.

This is the same company that launched the Palm App Store in December 2008, making it incredibly easy to grab anything from Facebook to Pac-Man on your handheld computer. That’s what they are, you know. Smartphones are more than just phones.

The App Store for Windows Mobile offers the same kind of functionality as you would find with Android Market (for the T-Mobile G1) and the App Store (for the iPhone). According to PocketGear, their version of the App Store supports over 950 Windows Mobile devices. This includes those of the touchscreen variety, like the Samsung Omnia i900, as well as their non-touchscreen counterparts.

To help kick off the launch of their Windows Mobile App Store, PocketGear is offering 25% off of your first download when you use the coupon code “MOBILESHOP” during the checkout process.

Check out the official page for more details and to download the App Store to your Windows Mobile device.
