The BlackBerry Storm is arguably one of the most innovative smartphones to come out of Research in Motion for some time, but that clicking touchscreen could be more fragile that you’d like. Even aside from that, you may be bringing your BlackBerry into a work environment that requires a little extra protection. Thankfully, there is now a case that can address that concern.

The good people at OtterBox are well known for their remarkably rugged cell phone cases and now they have taken their approach to the BlackBerry Storm. The OtterBox Defender Series has now been expanded to include the touchscreen ‘Berry and it sells for about US$50.

The ultra rugged case for the Storm is much like other OtterBox cases that you may have encountered in the past. There are three layers of protection: two built-in polycarbonate screens, a hi-impact polycarbonate shell, and a silicone skin to absorb bump and shock. Yup, your Storm is well contained.

The OtterBox Defender BlackBerry Storm case is only available in black at this time, buat at least it gives you full access to all the ports and buttons that you need. As far as I can tell, it’s shipping now, so look for it through the usual channels.
