When I first heard about the Peek Handheld, I thought it could be an interesting concept, but not too many people would be interested in a dedicated email device, especially if the cost wasn’t all that different from getting a BlackBerry or other email-enabled cell phone.

At the time, the Peek Handheld was selling for $100 and then you had to fork over $20 a month for the wireless email service. At that monthly rate, you may as well tack on an unlimited email plan on your cell phone, right? Addressing this kind of concern, the Peek Handheld is now available with lifetime service for one big bundled price.

Instead of paying separate for the device and the service, you can get the Peek Handheld with a lifetime of wireless service for $300. This is a one-day deal (today), so if you’ve been on the fence, you’ll want to make your decision soon. Compared to the regular price, you’re paying an extra $200, so you break even after just 10 months of service. Not bad at all.

The Peek Handheld was voted as one of Time Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2008, so that’s got to say something. I’m still on the fence, but if you want dedicated email, today might be the day to take the plunge. For more information, check out the official Peek purchase page.
