A short while ago, we spotted the Lenovo ThinkPad W700 and we thought it was pretty innovative for integrating a secondary display into a single laptop. We’ve seen the Vista SideShow thing before, but this was a full-fledged second screen for anything you wanted to use it for. As it turns out, Lenovo isn’t all that special.
Another laptop with more than one screen is the new Voodoo Firefly, a notebook that supplements its main 17.1-inch screen with a secondary 4.3-inch screen. This secondary display is located just below the main one, giving you some extra space to manage emails, instant messages, Twitter updates, widgets, music players, or whatever. It is only 4.3-inches, so I’d advise against web surfing too much on there.
Since the buzz-happy Firefly comes by way of Voodoo, you know that the specs are no slouch. Among the features are a 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of RAM, 250GB 7200rpm hard drive, dual ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 GPUs in CrossFire mode, multi-touch trackpad, backlit keyboard, Creative X-Fi audio, and a webcam with night vision.
Do you think these specs are up to snuff? Well, it was enough to handle Far Cry 2 on “very high” settings, so I think it’s fair to say that it will appease most of the mobile gamers in the audience. I’m just a little afraid to ask about the price.
