As it turns out, Hewlett-Packard wasn’t quite done with the netbook announcements yesterday when it revealed the HP Mini 1000. Turning to its sister company, HP has also announced the Compaq Mini 700 netbook.

Although its model number is smaller than its HP Mini 1000 counterpart, the Compaq Mini 700 actually comes with a slightly larger display. Instead of offering an 8.9- or 10.1-inch widescreen display, the Compaq Mini 700 actually rocks a 10.2-inch WSVGA screen. The extra 0.1-inch comes from the 16:10 ratio (the Mini 1000 is 16:9).

The rest of the specs (and overall appearance) mirror that of the HP Mini 1000. Expect to get a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, webcam, WiFi, Bluetooth, SD slot, 92% full-sized keyboard, and your choice of storage options (60GB HDD, 8GB SSD, or 16GB SSD). The Compaq Mini 700 netbook starts at 299 GBP.
